Pat, as an aside, did you hear BC may be on the cusp of a 400 year cycle for
extreme drought? Hot dry summers on the central coast may mean some booming
business for you over the coming years -- if the forests don't burn down.

As far as the question at hand, do you mean contractual stuff or kayaking
questions? I'd sure be asking the retailer for his/her local knowledge. If
the retailer also provided guiding services, there may be a conflict of
interest in giving away too much information. I know you are ethical in this
respect, because you have always been more than helpful from what I've
experienced and heard.

I'd also hope the renter would ask the retailer if there were any
requirements regarding skill level, experience, rescue knowledge and issues
involving on-water/shore communication and weather/tide forecasting ability.
Here, one would expect the retailer of an ethical reputation to be asking
the questions first.

Aside from the global warming (cars and airplanes are to be blaimed first of
all), but which is, probably, not cyclical, - what this forecast is based
on?

As for the forest fire situation, the information source was Dr. Ken Green
of the Fraser Institute, a right-wing think tank here in BC.
