Mike Daly's answer pretty much covered it--but a couple more small pointers: *Keep your elbows in *Scull with your torso, not with your arms/shoulders. *keep your head/face low *keep your boat upright (push it off you so it is nearly upright--don't let it settle on top of you and drive you down into the water) *If it hurts, stop!! (It shouldn't hurt--if it hurts, it's a signal that you are quite probably doing something wrong) *only do it if it's fun! shawn bill hansen <bhansen2_at_twcny.rr.com> wrote: >My question to day has to do with the deep low brace - paddle well under the water with the end near the boat deeper than the end furthest from the boat, paddler leaning forward and toward the on-water side of the kayak, sculling down and then back up. When I try this, it seems to impose a lot of stress on shoulder, elbow, and wrist of the on-water arm. New and Improved Yahoo!
