One problem with an outboard
that is hung on the side of any kind of
boat, say a canoe, sharpie, or kayak, is that
the rear seat passenger gets wet, as
all outboard throws up a lot of spray
backward/upward.

I am indepted to J|rgen Engert
and his www.faltbootbasteln.de
for trying a dam to stop the splashing
by a plate, but mine is a little different!

I tried a solution where I put two
LZ-Hydrofoils halfway up the
outboard's vertical shaft, as
can be seen at

http://foldingkayaks.org/gallery/Splash-preventors/LZ_Hydrofoil

Where you also can read about the details of the installation.

This weekend I tried it.

Worked as a dream, but the centre piece (made of HDPE)
that the fins are bolted to need to have a streamlined leading edge
and possibly increased in size, a bit, otherwise "Perfick!", as Dad
said in The Loving Buds of May.
