Quite the contrary. There exist an infinite number of possibilities of which all have merits and differences. Since we have not produced anywhere close to an infinte number of designs a lot of room remains for new approaches. Furthermore the design of a boat need not contain any innovations. It may, however, combine well known elements in a unique manner.
