I think of all people who pioneered these river runs (whether in Appalachia or in the Cascades), of all the hard-won advances in technique and equipment, of all the people who have worked so hard to make sure that all those streams are available/accessible to all of us...and sometimes I wonder if we're failing to capitalize on all that hard work. Maybe I have an overactive sense of history...
