Marcia: The Petzl Duo LED 5 is extremely rugged, waterproof to at least 50 feet, and features a soft LED light as well as a high-power hologen beam. Advertised burn time in the LED mode is a minimum of 17 hours continuous. I have the older model, with tungsten low-power bulb, and it's very rugged. If there's a downside, it's bulk. The 4-AA battery pack is separate, and rides on the back of your head. View it at rei.com, item #695304 FWIW, I use a Petzl Tikka for night-time sailing, where I'm just illuminating my workspace (foredeck). It's much lighter, but I don't consider it waterproof or particularly bombproof.
