I paddle with a woman who is very athletic and a great paddler/bracer, etc. A few years ago when she was very inexperienced, she overturned a kayak and was trapped in it underwater (almost drowning) because she had not had any training on wet exits, or how to get the skirt off. Now she is very uncomfortable going underwater in her kayak and it inhibits her ability to learn to roll. Anybody have any suggestions on what she could practice in order to get her confidence up and to move away from her fears?
