Hi Peter, and All

He had a ketch sail rig plus spinnaker with lead weight keel on
his non Pittarak kayak. One of his speed controls was to angle the
cylindrical lead weight on the bottom of the keel so that it directed water
flow to or away from the hull. He also had a lot of fancy little sails to
direct wind over the mainsails.

His top speed to date was 13 knots and he's aiming for 20. We asked him what
to do if the boat tipped over - his answer was you mustn't!!!

Thirteen knots!!!!!! Did you ask if he had ever been booked in a no-wash
zone?? That guy would have to be seriously crazy..good stuff. So, Peter,
when are you going to convert your Pittarak into a ketch? Of course this will
probably mean a protest to the club's compliance committee..
We would struggle to get thirteen knots out of our FIFTY FOOT ketch in a forty
knot southerly!
What was the waterline length of his mysteriously described 'non-Pittarak'
kayak? Was he on Sydney Harbour on Saturday? It would have been gusting
around 25knots I guess. How was he travelling in that? Did he really have a
ketch rig with two masts? Is he a mate of Larry Gray's?
Cheers, PeterR
