My first wet exit at a course was a panic one. First I wasn't expecting such water in my nose, I also was desoriented but I managed to remove the spayskirt, but instead of going at the surface I went the other way!! so after a complete 360 degres in the water I finally surfaced completely shaked from that experience. There was the ratio 6 for one instructor so no time for him for securing me and maybe try other techniques to avoid that panic. Last week I went with a private instructor and this time... with a nose clip (a tremendous helping tool for me), I was more confident and it turned out to a miracle, I practice to calm down in reverse position, (knocking the hull three times may sound silly but it's one the magical things). For reassuring even more, you could ask the instructor to gradually turn the kayak upside down slowly, it really helps. This week I can practice rolling (with a paddlefloat) alone, and I don't have to use the nose clips half the time just to prevent any sickness (water is not crystall clear). Good private instructor with good judgement and creativity goes a long way. This miracle is possible... cost some dollars but... it's like a rebirth I can only imagine my first roll..., I feel it's coming. Good luck and good faith Pierre _________________________________________________________________ MSN Messenger http://g.msn.fr/FR1001/866 : dialoguez en direct et gratuitement avec vos amis ! *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
