I found it unique, in that rather than delving into an instructional focus, it simply captures paddlers in locations all over the world doing their thing. Flatwater nature scenics with Nigel Foster, (of all people), to a hairy coastal exploration of Kamchatka including large surf, Russian soldiers, a plucky Russian guide and Brown Bears. The American south, or west coast, everywhere you want to paddle. There is something for everybody. But to be sure, most of the footage is of lumpier water with some very big water thrown in for good measure. The scene I enjoyed most (as a paddler) was watching Nigel Dennis shoot still photos with one hand as he moved across the race in Penrhyn Mawr. As a guy, the opening sequences were lots of fun...but that's for you to decide. The paddlers are a nice balance between men and women. No test-o-fest or estro-ver-dose. There isn't any preachy, my way or the highway, attitudes. There doesn't seem to be a lot of posturing, either. It's fun, a lot of fun, and holds up to multiple viewings.
