Steve, I have to agree with you on the unfeathered issue. In John Dowd's book "Sea Kayaking", he points out many liabilities for feathered paddles including repetitive-use wrist injuries. The only benefit he found was in heavy head winds. He concluded that it is surprising that the feathered paddle gained so much popularity.
