Regarding the composite Greenland style paddles - I have demoed Mark Rogers' carbon paddle and it is light as a feather, flexible and fun to use. My first attempt at using it was weird. I reached forward and waved the blade through the air and almost fell out of the boat. It was the first time I realized that I let the weight of the paddle bring the blade down to the water. Since Mark's paddle has no weight, the blade didn't come down! I had to learn how to paddle all over again.
