Why are we wasting all this bandwidth on such a silly discussion as Euro vs Greenland paddles. As recent postings have shown the real questions that need to be discussed are 1. Fins vs Propellers 2. Chain Drive vs Gear Drive 3. Campagnolo vs Shimano Derailleurs Fins are based on the flukes of dolphins and whales and as such represent 5 million years of evolution in design. Propellers are great scientific achievements that can be quantified in thrust and drag terms. (See we get to use the same arguments as with paddles just with something different this time) Chains are simple to use but have parts which may break or slip off. Gear drives are more sturdy but require more expertise in maintenance and gear selection ( Remind anyone of rudders vs skegs?) Fine Italian style with strange little quirks or mini-weight Japanese quality ( Shades of Brit Heavys or American Lights) The paddle is the past, the pedal is the future. I would really appreciate finding a way to power my bicycle with my paddle. That would be a huge advance for me. By the way, I find that the Greenland blade on the RIGHT is the way to go. You've got it backwards, Mark!
