"Frankenboat" is the name now being given to Chris Duff's boat, the one he took around New Zealand's South Island which is described in his book "Southern Exposure". I had a chance to paddle that boat, a bit. It still handles well, but Chris told me the boat had been so badly damaged by a bad surf landing during the trip that he could literally fold the stern over the bow. The cockpit had been virtually torn out. It's been repaired of course, but you can see how much damage had been done. Yet it's continues to be Chris' favorite boat. Now that's loyalty.
