2004..... Great year. "Retired" after multiple years of trying to hold onto a demanding job while caregiving then burying multiple family members and settling estates. Whew! So, I immediately started building a new timberframe house / "base camp" on Seneca Lake. Not yet complete but slowly working my way through the finishings (6,600+ feet of trim to stain & wax, 3.5 tons of granite floor tile to install, cabinets, etc etc...). Not-yet-updated photos _at_ headwinds.org Everyday, while working, I get to look out at the water I will paddle each day in 2005! Paddling - not so much as I'd like, but still: Bought a new boat (Impex Currituck) for the collection after a brisk January test paddle. Took a trip to Virginia/Maryland for ACA instructor certification. Spent a really great week with the ACA instructor-trainer of the year (Mike Aronoff) and a bunch of fun folks. Fit in a few more legs of my quest to paddle around all the Finger Lakes Spent more time on creeks in a canoe than ever in all my (many) years prior! Plus, first canoe capsize! (did you know you can only brace with one end of the paddle??) The highlight of the paddling year was at Georgian Bay - truly a paradise. Spent 6 days on the water from Killarney to Snug Harbor - a private trip "logistically coordinated" by a lurker on this list - Thanks Frank!!! 2005::: I WILL PADDLE virtually every day it is above freezing. (my lake is 660' deep so even in a NY winter it doesn't freeze. But the gloves, deck lines, skirt, etc do if the air temp encourages it) I would like to paddle a week on the Sea of Cortez: looking at a Loreto - La Paz trip I'd like Frank to "logistically coordinate" a trip to Northern Superior :). I need to finish my paddle Tour of the Finger Lakes I'd like to attend a symposium or two I need one more week-long trip in the summer, though. ideas?? invites???? :).
