I've seen something like this in the 505 and later Peak 1 descendents. However, I never associated it with overpressure. There's a place underneath the burner where fuel sometimes gets squirted the wrong way - I've assumed it's due to dirt in the fuel nozzle. Once it was due to someone getting their stove bonked in travel and the alignment of the nozzle was out - quickly fixed (once it all cooled down) with a multitool.
