Jackie... > what are you having to do? Just curious. > I spoke w/ my local camping store in Portland Maine about the recycling of butane/propane canisters. The answer from them was drain them fully and then punch a hole in the side w/ a claw hammer or a screwdriver, drill etc. to visibly show they are empty. Please do make sure you fully empty them before puncturing them. Then they are readily accepted by any recycling facility. Here in New England we are fortunate in that there is a fairly well established recycling system. Here in Maine we have the big dumpsters w/ bins for paper, cardboard, plastics and metals next to our big supermarkets and town and or public works offices. I am not sure what the standards are for rest of the country as far as establised recycling practices go, but once perforated the canisters are ok to dump in the recycle bins. regards: Michael *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
