Take a look at a map of Goodland, FL. You can park and launch from the Goodland Marina. From there you can paddle SW towards Cape Romano or South out Coon Key Pass thence SE towards Panther, White Horse or Hog Key. There are a lot of wind protected routes if need arises. The Waterproof Charts co has a very good large scale chart of the area with some good backwater routes charted. Although not part of Everglades National Park the area From Cape Romano to Tiger Key does fall under their protection.
