book by Eric Larson I read this book a few years ago. It tells the story of the Hurricane that swept Galveston on September 8, 1900. The Storm surge swept Galveston and left it in a heap of broken wood and bodies.Within 24 hours, some 8,000 residents of that town lost their lives. The pictures of what the earthquake and tsunamis did around the Indian Ocean remind me strongly of what happened in Galveston. There is a PBS documentary on the Great Flood. It has amazing pictures and interviews with survivors, friends, and relative of those who didn't make it out.
