For me 2004 was quality not quantity. Had only four trips: A weekend paddling the tidal features in the Sound of Luing area (Cuan Sound, Grey dogs, Gulf of Corryvreckan) which never fails to please A surprisingly entertaining assessment weekend for my BCU five star award Organised the annual club 'gourmet grub' trip (paddle to a nice location, spend time over the food, dress for dinner etc) Paddled StKilda. I'm not sure if there is a destination to top StKilda. Amazing islands 50 miles west of europe. Fantastic topography. No sheltered water. A quarter of the worlds Gannets apparently. The sound of a thousand gannet wings beating above your head while slicing along the long lazy north atlantic swell out to Boreray is something I won't forget in a hurry. Some pics of the trip here: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/~ltu006/images/stkildaslides/ If anyone has any suggestions for 2005 .... Oh and the second bulld of my Harpoon kayak design was launched four years after the first one: http://www.abdn.ac.uk/~ltu006/DougBoat1.jpg Cheers Colin www.kayakscotland.com *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
