I got excited at the thought of refilling the propane bottles, until I remembered a movie I watched in a Hazardous Materials Incident Commander's Course.

While I am not an engineer, the ones in the room were quite shocked at the stupidity of the guys in the movie stealing propane from commercial tanks.

I can't remember exactly what the issue was, but one of the guys was arrested, in the hospital, after injuring himself.

Perhaps some of the engineers or HazMat guys on the list can recall the dangers.

I suggest this would take some research to make sure it is safe. It is probably illegal for a reason.

"DOT-39 NRC 232/290 M1110
Federal Law forbids transportation if refilled -
Penalty up to $500,000 fine and 5 years
imprisonment (49 U.S.C. 5124) " >>
