On the subject of death due to lack training, etc. The death of Lone Madsen was at least partly the result of failure to take the advice of Inuit experts in Greenland, where she interviewed numerous highly skilled Inuit paddlers, but failed to take their advice on skills to master, manner of dress essential for the Greenland environment, seasons appropriate for the planned expedition. High tech "STUFF" does not make up for lack of basic equipment, dress, and skills.
