>the plastic hubs were lathing off the aluminium on the underside of the axles (the wheels have no bearings). This is really upsetting in these Primex/Roleez carts - rated for 200 lbs or more, and no bearings. For rolling an empty kayak over short distances it doesn't matter, though. My wheels from old golf cart are better in this respect - there is a bearing sleeve, i.e. wheel rotates around immobile sleeve that sits on the axle, and it is much easier to roll heavy loads over all kinds of surfaces on them (but they are not strong enough for that). > Primex break on me, but since I do a lot of solo trips, Ib^Yd be really hooped if it did. So Ib^Yve retired the Primex to boathouse-to-beach duty, and upgraded this year to the Paddleboy Heavy Lifter http://www.paddleboy.com/pages/product_pages/heavy_lifter.html, > They are talking about "bronze bushings" on these wheels - is it really so? (and what is the axle opening in the bushing - 1/2", 5/8" ?) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
