In the DVD, "This is the Sea" there's and awesome section showing off-beat
paddlers surfing confused seas down in the Panhandle somewhere, near an area
further out to sea where current and swell intersect over a shallows. The
area _isn't_ really accessible to board surfers, would be perhaps a chore
for shorter paddlelcraft and white water kayaks to access and enjoy, but sea
kayaks excel at utilizing the non-shore break, breaking seas action. I think
the DVD indicates some of these untapped areas of fun and excitement and
certainly leaves the local shore break for the boarders and surf-yakers in
their river boats.

Some of the bigger, storm-tossed seas and wild-current induced tide-race
waves I've surfed (in both wild, remote place, or even local no-go spots),
typically (maybe categorically) never see action by board surfers. And if I
get swept out to sea in my boat, I can take the long way back to the beach,
pull up, and disgorge my kit. Try that in a river kayak, surf board, or even
from a wind-surfer board. Of course, there was that guy, The Duke, on
Gilligan's Island who surfed a Tsunami all the way from Hawaii. Guess that
wouldn't be to good a rerun to play right now.

Anyway, yeah, board surfers are way cool, but sea-yakers have their big
water moves too.
