In response to Ken's question, these are the two sites I've used on-line to 
obtain GPS coords for free:

http://mapserver.maptech.com/
This site appears to also have nautical charts available - I'm inland so I 
have not used these.

The maptech site appears to be having some "issues" as I create this link - 
has worked every other time I've visited the site....
No endorsement of either - I've just used them.  Both have their pro/cons.

Fisrt I go to 

http://www.topozone.com/

to get a close points lat/long then I go to

http://www.lostoutdoors.com/newmap.html

that provides an aerial photo that is clickable to obtain lat/longs of the
exact spot in question.  
For clickable marine charts I go to

http://map.marineplanner.com/mapping/chart/chartindex.cfm

For aerial photos of the entire California coastline (except Vandenberg)
where the camera lat/long locations are given in the photo discriptions
go to 

http://www.californiacoastline.org/

Similarly, WA shoreline photos: 
http://apps.ecy.wa.gov/shorephotos/index.html  ; no lat/lon info on the 
photos, unfortunately.

I've always enjoyed these photos. I can actually see my house in one
