I read this somewhere and asked the author where the formula below came from. "Residual resistance (Rr) varies as the square of the Beam (B) and the first power of Length (L): Rr = B^2L." I was told the formula came from someone who is a member of Paddlewise. Can anyone tell me if this is a correct formula, and if so where it can be found in the literature of Naval Architecture (so that I might be able to read more about it). It doesn't look right to me but maybe there is something similar out there and this is a typo (or something else is involved).
