To get mothball odors out of my wool clothes I put them in the clothes drier on the "air" setting with a few anti-static sheets. They soak up the smell in about ten minutes. No idea how to extrapolate that to how many it would take with a kayak in the clothes drier, but I'm sure someone can figure it out.
