Hello Bruce,
I get the digest version of paddlewise and just saw your question about
stress cracks.
While they do not appear to leak, there could be some concern that they
very slowly allow water to get into the glass fibers of the boat, which
could cause trouble over time, but that's probably unlikely.

For peace of mind, get a tube of crazy glue, super glue, or whatever
they call it (cyanoacrylate). There are thick and thin versions. Get the
thin version, and run it over the stress cracks. This stuff wicks into
the cracks, seals them, and is waterproof. It will adhere to the gelcoat
very well.
Since it's clear, you'll still see the cracks, but you'll know they're
sealed, and there wont' be any unsightly glue residue on your hull.
