actually I wonder if there is any shoe that will dry quickly, let alone VERY.
Sandals drain and dry fastest, and that is one of the reasons I prefer them.
But even amongst sandals there is a difference between those with
nylon, polyester and polypropylene straps: those with polypropylene straps dry fastest.
The Source River Crosser is my favorite sandal because of their
polypropylene webbing and the special designed strapping design,
that really works very well when walking on difficult terrain.
They are now replaced with the Source Zambezi (for men...)
which are more comfortable because of the padding on the straps,
BUT they now dry slower. (Therefore I prefer my old River Crossers
when I use them with socks.)
Like Chuck Holst, I wear my sandals with (wool) socks when it is too cold,
and I use (Zoelzer) 'rain stockings' over my socks when it rains or when the
terrain is very wet. In fact they then function as a very lightweight kind of
high boots that can be dried out VERY quickly.

For portages where my sandals would not work, I use (low) shoes.
Lack of ankle-support has never been a problem for me.
I wonder if this ankle-support thing is not a 'mythunderstanding'
just like "longer is faster", "paddle length measured from the ground", etc.
The only problem with low shoes for me is that getting things in your
shoe is easier.
