The print edition is currently being distributed around North America at over 500 locations, and being mailed to our subscribers. Titled 'Safety Scenarios', the issue is something of a departure for us. We usually emphasize the 'up-side' of paddling-the adventures to be had, the amazing creatures of the ocean, and the transformative effect of being out on the water. This time we consider the 'down-side', with a focus on capsize and recovery. We spend a lot of time in the water! And we lead off with stories of solo paddling expeditions with some close calls. We hope you enjoy the issue, and we recommend you attend one of the many symposia and paddlefests on offer this year. We can all learn to be better-and safer-paddlers. Our companion, online 'Safety First Directory' lists companies offering paddling courses, safety instruction and useful gear. . . .
