REI will rent a kayak of some sort and there is another place on hwy 35 that escapes me for now. I am more into fast water and there are any number of rivers west of Austin that will have class I & II rapids as well as good fly fishing. I am in Houston but have friends in Austin (also more fly fishermen than anything else) any specific questions. I will ask them about the kayak rentals. Regards, S.B.
