I created an elastic band (using 2" wide waistband kind of elastic) that slips over the camera - with a soft 'patch' in the lens cover area. To use it, I pick up the camera and slip the elastic band down over my hand/wrist for storage while shooting the pic (beats dropping it overboard!). Take the picture then slip the elastic back onto the camera and stow it. Depending on how much water you take on and where you stow the camera, the patch may stay dry, and serve to absorb the droplets that DO get on the lens cover. Just one solution - probably much more elegant ones out there.
