Craig posted (snip): >I know this attitude is downright un-American but I can't help it. And I >know that in the spring there are nice flowers, the trees turn green, and everything is "new" but it's all "yadda yadda" to me because... I don't mind getting a little wet but if more than about 30% of me gets soaked I get... well... cranky. Spring is nothing if not wet what with the stuff falling from the sky and the wind blowing it right at you along with what seems like half the lake.< So, ya don't like gettn' wet, eh. Here's an experiment: Fill your bath tub up full, get in, get wet, go soak yourself. Now, drain the tub but, stay in, lying back. As the water drains, your body starts to feel heavier and heavier and heavier. That's how I feel when I don't get out kayaking, regardless of the season. There's a lightness to being, out in the wind and waves, or a summer mellow paddle. You are heavy, and you ain't my brother! :-) Doug Lloyd Victoria BC *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Loved it! Never been that athletic, I sure know what you're talking about! My body isn't the same I grew up with, that's all too obvious! > Never been that athletic, I sure know > what you're talking about! No, you don't :-)! You do have winters in Sweden, with a real snow for cross-country skiing, not some high-elevation-low-pressure-induced precipitation (which looks like a rain 10 minutes of driving down). Cross-country areas around Vancouver were closed in mid-February this year (normally it's early April). I've started seriously pondering a bicycle for spring and fall time, but bike trails look so damn crowded after miles and miles of empty space on the water... And bicycle seat is so damn small and uncomfortable when loaded with what I have to load on it - perhaps seats were much larger many years ago... *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
