I've a M1V, that lives on my PFD and rolls with me every time I go out. I've only had two problems both which were my fault. I recently broke the plastic clip that secures the radio to my PFD. It's also tethered. I was in a hurry and bent the clip back too far. I'm getting a friend to make a replacement clip out of stainless steel. Icom wants $14 for a plastic replacement. Last year I paddled up to the take out dock in Bamfield and while sliding out and rolling up onto the raised dock I rolled right over the rubber duck antenna and snapped the internal wire. So if you keep an M1V on your PFD be careful when climbing up onto elevated docks and don't over stress that plastic clip. It doesn't seem fragile at all - certainly not like my cell >phone or, to a lesser extent, my GPS. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
