I used to date a girl years ago that cartopped a canoe on a 1968 Mustang 
covertible. Her dad made this pretty ingenious rig that mounted on the 
car when the top was down. So if the weather was questionable, we 
tandemed & took my 1969 Camaro coupe (Her canoe, though, because it was 
better than mine). Don't recall the details of how it was made, but it 
worked great.
