Just for kicks I rounded the chines off (sort of an elliptical rounding) on 
both the flat and round bottom boats and the difference in righting arm 
between rounded bilge and chine was 4.4% less righting arm for the flat 
bottom boat and 10% greater righting arm for the "V" bottom boat.

Not an exhuastive study but still interesting (to me anyway).
