Well, I hiked up a local mountain tonight to see some of the tall ships
coming into Victoria for the weekend event - had the family "in tow," so
couldn't kayak out to mingle, which may have been more interesting in the
windy straits this evening. The police had the Royal Roads waterfront closed
down to cars eventually, so I'm glad we got to see some of the ships under
sail from higher up, away from any crowds.

I'll probably head to the inner harbour Sunday to view the ships from the
waterline. Anyone in Victoria want to join?

We drove around that mess enroute to the Victoria-Port Angeles ferry today,
and it was quite impressive, with a ship from Mexico and one from Russia
being the contenders for largest. Those ships need to be seen to be
appreciated!

The harbor was alive with paddlers, and patrolers, looked like some Vic
RCMP's (?) and maybe CCG Zodiacs.

The Straits had some pretty rough conditions, which made the ferry alter
course, after a large crash in the galley ... and none of the sail boats out
had much sail on. Some of the passengers lost lunch. A big day.
