If anyone, in range of Southern Maine, is in the market for a fun kayak to play in, Michael's El Chupacabras is a blast. Balance braces are trivial. Hand rolls are easy. I'm 165 lbs and hadn't noticed the freeboard - if you are in the 140 to 170 pound range, and interested you might try it, despite Michael's 140 pound recommendation. The 18" beam shouldn't scare people off as you sit low and the bottom of the kayak is relatively flat. Alas my house is being high maintanance or I would be trying to talk my wife into another boat in the fleet...
