I just love the idiots that use the "blanket" theory. When in doubt, sue everyone! I once worked for a large electrical contractor in San Diego. We had finished an expansion at a well known hospital in the La Jolla area, and were off site for more than 1 week. When an intern was transporting a patient down a hallway on a gurney, when they hit an extension cord that was lying across the hall floor. Thereby causing the intern to dump the gurney, and it's passenger onto the floor. No real damage was done, but the patient did suffer some minor pain and discomfort. This patient then sued the hospital, and every contractor involved in the construction/expansion, whether they were on-site, or not. It ended up costing our company several thousands of dollars in legal fees, just to prove that we weren't even on site the day of the incident. Is there such a thing as an accident anymore? Anyone buy a cup of HOT coffee at McDonalds lately? Or how about riding an honest to god ATV? Remember the old 3 wheelers? What ever happened to crashing a bike because someone was just ignorant of how the machine operated, and taking the blame of that ignorance? Should I sue the kayak manufacturers if I roll my kayak and crack my skull on a submerged rock? Aren't they required to tell me there could be obstacles under water?.....SHEESH! On a side note....after 35 years, I no longer live in California. I couldn't stand the stench of all the legal B***S*** anymore.
