Hy,
 
I have to change the cable to the skeg of my son's Silhouette kayak. The
cable is SS 2mm diameter.
 
There is no problem in removing it and putting a new one back in. 
 
My question is does anybody know where I can get this cable?
 
I am traveling to the USA this weekend and might try some places like
motorcycle stores or West Marine.
 
Any suggestions will be welcome.

Forget the motorcycle stores, but West Marine should be able to help. You
want SS that is rated for salt water. Not all SS's are the same.

You could also probably have Seeward send it to you directly.

I have replaced the ss skeg cable in my Nordkapp with a West Marine product
but it was not an exact fit and I had to drill out the skeg slightly. It may
be the difference between Metric and English.  The bigger cable is a bit
more robust.
