Derek and all,
First I have 2 of Dave's covers that I bought on E-bay, and I am very
pleased with both of them. Very well made, fit well, etc. they have done
well for about 3 months in the Florida summer sun. I did have to put a
couple of drain holes in the bottom, since water tends to pool (they hang on
a fence outside in the rain), but all in all I'd buy them again. (No
affiliation or anything).
As for marking gear, a company called Trident makes both a marking pen
that works well and doesn't wash off in salt water very quickly, and marking
paint (looks like that craft glue/paint you see sometimes, but waaay more
durable). Comes in many colors and after a long time, still shows up well. I
use the stuff to mark all kinds of things. (Again no affiliation and YMMV)

Best,
Sluf
