The little video clip had me in stitches! >

Too bad Bending Branches makes a great reasonably priced wood paddle- I 
have used one for years.  Why they would come up with this is a puzzle. 
  This seems almost dangerous, especially for the fisherman- what if he 
leans to the non float side??  I guess this must be for the true 
"recreational" kayaker who isn't really into kayaking and developing 
any level of skill??

It would have been more realistic if they had shown an overweight 50+ 
y.o. falling in the water. If you're as lithe and nimble as that girl, 
you can get into a boat easily.

So the question is, could you use it for a solo paddlefloat re-entry? If 
so, one might replace those straps and bungees on the back deck with one.
