That was my view of life in younger years - sometimes I was out swimming for hours, with no aids of any kind, as was my rowing days (better call it years), where not even the most basic safety item was even thought of! And I prefer black-powered Colts, or Remintons to Berettas and S & W 32s any day! But accidents happen, and friends die just too young, just by not taking even the most basic precausions, like not mixing drink and water activities, or driving. Quite a few vacations I went overseas with my motorbike, and carried only the very basic gear, like a helmet and gloves, as my boss had told me, sharply: 'Kid, I love motorbiking, and I like you, but there is only three things that's important to your employer and that's your brains and your two hands, as without either you have nos skills, so you'll be damned sure you wear those motorbike gloves and a your helmet, no matter if it is 104 F outside, like today, or you'll sweat like a dog!' But ever so often I see motorbikers without gloves and helmets, not to mention the kids that fly around on their mopeds, at speeds far beyond the legal limits, or three to a scooter.
