We went to Granville Island yesterday despite the wild weather and visited Ecomarine. Great shop, friendly folks, and lots of Feathercrafts. I asked the guy working there about going to the Feathercraft factory and he said there really wasn't always anything to do or see there, and that often times they sent people down to Ecomarine. While we were chatting we got on the subject of the Trax kayaks. He said they had been trying to get them for some time to sell their boats, but the owner didn't really like them because in the past they have kind of bad mouthed Feathercraft. Also he couldn't understand what the deal was in needing to change your rocker while out paddling. Especially if it meant taking off your spray skirt in adverse conditions. I agreed. Going to Canada there was no traffic at all (being Thanksgiving) and no wait at the border. But when we wanted to leave we got caught in rush hour :( Then there was an hour wait crossing back over the border. But that was the least of our problems. My wife (who is a Japanese national) had her passport with her but not her Green Card. They fined us $265! That could have bought an armload of 'stuff' at Ecomarine.
