Just a tip of navigation for those who carry a dig. camera.
When I do a return route in a new unfamiliar location (Landing back  where 
I started - which is probably the most common case). I take several photos 
of the starting point while I am like 200, 500, 1000m away. Then it is 
easier for me to locate (while watching the camera screen) the landing point.
You can take few more photos of significant locations along the route. But 
don't exaggerate, not to overload your memory.
