The first airliftee appears to have a skull cap neoprene john and paddle jacket. The second fellow appears to have wind pants and jacket, possibly over neoprene. The wind was up high and sustained over a long period of time. For those not intimate with details of the western Washington area, Bellingham is north of Seattle a hundred miles or so. Northern inland waters refers to the area including the San Juan Islands. Whidbey Island is south 20 miles or so from Bellingham. Smith Island is south of the San Juan group by 10 miles.
