We reached something like an 8 or 9 on the DL scale (1-10_ yesterday, with
solid spume on the bay and 3-4 foot breakers (<1 mile fetch). Trees down
everywhere, power out all over. A small catamaran on a trailer got flipped
and dismasted. Roofs off, fences down, shingles strewn all about.

Forecast was for 100 mph winds on the headlands and beaches. Hit about 50
here and gusts to 67 at the airport, where things are more protected. And
"torrential rain," which seemed like an ordinary hard coastal rain, except
it was sideways. Nothing like Katrina, though.

Dooouuugie, the Columbia River Bar is callllliiinnnng, Doooouuugggiiieeee,
come play with me (35 foot swells; probably broke _outside_ the bar!).
