Race Rocks was steady at 120km to 150km this morning, only the 18th time in
100 years. Not sure the exact parameters for the record. We did get 170km at
times. The apartment buildings I paddle past in Sooke Basin when I come down
the Sooke River lost its roof (That's pronounced "ruff" do Dave K). 50,000
folks with now power this morning here in Victoria and surrounds (half the
population). Probably "mild" weather for you all along the Floridian
coastline.

Miss the rough stuff in my yak. These winter storms churn up a lot of
nostalgia, but I'll be back!!

Doug

Interesting to hear from you as I was just thinking this morning that we had
gone through a "Doug Lloydian" storm here in central Washington. I'm sure it
was blowing close to 50mph last night. It blew my Nimbus across the yard, blew
down the Christmas yard decorations (a snowman, a penguin (I'm a Linux guy,
after all) and the wire-trees with LEDs on them), and blew the improvised
winter-habitat off the fish pond ("hey man... look.... sky!!!"). My son said
there was an aurora and a meteor shower.

So this is the new standard for storms: They are either DougLloydian or not.
