Glen, To keep things simple I use the 12" Mini-Shockles for a contact tow. http://www.shockles.com/products06/minishockle.cfm They sell for about $9.00 apiece stay on the boat at all times and have a 600 lbs rating. No quick release but I won't use them if I anticipate that I need a quick release.
