Anyone have any experience good or bad with either

West Marine VHF150
or
Standard HX500S

Both are available for about the same price as replacing my HX350S battery.

Hi Mark,

I had a Standard for some years. It failed once after being on my PFD
for several days and when I showered my PFD with a garden hose.

Ken helped me with a guarantee and I got another one, and a refund of
some 40%?. I got a new one, put it in a dry bag, but the bag leaked and
it got wet only once and it does not work again. I let it dryh for weeks
but it is dead. I am not going through the hazzle of the guarantee, and
delivery form Mexico, etc. I'll just buy myself another brand. It did
not get to profound seas or anything like that, just a leaking bag in
the surf and that did it.

I don't think Standard Horizon is a good brand. Besides that the knob
turns on or off very easily draining all the battery, specially when oyu
need it the most.

If you buy one, maybe you can send me one with Jeff or somebody coming
down this way. I can wire you or Ken the amount.

Best Regards,

Rafael.
